- 3 pounds pork shoulder
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (optional)
Steps
- 1 Place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker.
- 2 In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- 3 Pour the sauce over the pork.
- 4 Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or on high for 4 hours.
- 5 Remove the pork and shred with two forks.
- 6 If desired, simmer the cooking liquid until reduced, then thicken with cornstarch slurry.
- 7 Toss the shredded pork with the sauce and garnish with green onions.
