- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
- 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
Steps
- 1 Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- 2 In a large bowl, mix 3 1/2 cups flour and salt.
- 3 Add yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour. Stir until a dough forms.
- 4 Knead on a floured surface, adding more flour as needed, for about 8 minutes until smooth.
- 5 Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled.
- 6 Preheat oven to 475°F. Divide dough into two portions and shape into rounds.
- 7 Bake pizzas immediately or let dough rest for 20 minutes before topping and baking.
