- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 4 slices bacon, diced
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
Steps
- 1 Preheat oven to 375°F.
- 2 Cook pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente; drain and set aside.
- 3 In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crispy; remove and set aside.
- 4 In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté onions until caramelized, about 10 minutes.
- 5 In a saucepan, whisk flour into milk, then cook over medium heat until thickened.
- 6 Remove from heat and stir in cheddar, mozzarella, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder until smooth.
- 7 Combine cooked pasta, caramelized onions, and crispy bacon in a large bowl with the cheese sauce.
- 8 Transfer mixture to a greased baking dish and bake for 20 minutes.
- 9 Serve hot and enjoy!
