- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes

- 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter

- 1 Cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water before draining.
- 2 While pasta cooks, heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
- 3 Stir in crushed tomatoes, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- 4 In a small pan, heat remaining 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heat. Add breadcrumbs and toast until golden, stirring frequently.
- 5 In the last minute of pasta cooking, add breadcrumbs to the skillet with butter and toss to coat.
- 6 Toss cooked pasta in the sauce, adding reserved pasta water as needed for consistency.
- 7 Stir in fresh basil.
