- 8 oz bacon, chopped
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional, depending on bacon saltiness)
Steps
- 1 In a medium skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside on a paper towel-lined plate.
- 2 Reserve 2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the skillet. Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- 3 Stir in brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- 4 Crumble the cooked bacon and add it back to the skillet.
- 5 Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens, about 10 minutes.
