  1. 1 Season the ground beef with salt, pepper, and a dash of Worcestershire sauce. Form into 4 patties.
  2. 2 Heat 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until cooked through.
  3. 3 In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons butter and the onions. Sauté until caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. 4 While the onions cook, toast the rye bread in a separate skillet with a little butter until golden brown.
  5. 5 Place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and let it melt.
  6. 6 Assemble the sandwiches: place a patty on each slice of toasted bread, top with caramelized onions and another slice of bread.
  7. 7 Butter the outside of each sandwich and grill in a skillet until the bread is crispy and golden.
